The International Indigenous Music Summit (IIMS) is the only global event dedicated to creating awareness, sharing resources, and building opportunities for the Indigenous music community. The International Indigenous Music Summit (IIMS) is a unique gathering of artists, knowledge keepers, and community builders, key invited allies and cultural innovators.
The International Indigenous Music Summit is the only global event that provides a unique space for Indigenous artists to discuss, exchange, and share and connect with one another, in a culturally sensitive and appropriate space directed at building long-term, mutually beneficial relationships between artists and industry professionals.
Participants and collaborators include creators, event organizers, presenters, key knowledge holders from the arts sector, and cultural connectors from many parts of the world. An elder advisory committee has foundational input on thematic material, organization, and execution. IIMS embeds international buyers as delegates, selecting cultural connectors within regions that represent particular opportunity for Canadian based Indigenous artists.
This year the Summit will take place from June 8th - 12th 2021. Indigenous artists and the music industry will come together to honour tradition and forge new paths, through curated musical showcases, networking activities, panels and ceremonies. The value of an IIMS Registration is $200. We understand that COVID has had a big impact on everyone, especially the music industry, and that the standard registration may not be possible for everyone. We have created a sliding scale so that everyone can participate, regardless of their financial situation.
